FAQ’S

WHAT SORT OF FILMS MAKE GOOD TRASH?

Trasharama generally screens gore-soaked slashers, insane frothing psychopathic serial killer movies, politically incorrect comedies, dodgy sci-fi’s, poo films, bad taste toons, b-grade schlock, mockumentaries, back yard tragedies, basically anything low-brow that doesn’t take itself too seriously. We encourage you to invent new genres as well as explore old ones. Zombies, Vampires, Gender Bender midgets, whatever gets your goat….. as long as it MAKES ‘EM LAUGH ( OR SCREEAM ) !!

WILL MY FILM BE SCREENED?

All film entries which are sent to us with the correct entry form are considered for screening. The Trasharama program tries to screen as many films as possible but obviously due to the truck loads received each year, some entries unfortunately miss out. However, every person who enters a film receives one free ticket to their nearest Trasharama show…. so really everyone is a winner !! REMEMBER: Keep your movie SHORT and ENTERTAINING! 

WHERE WILL MY FILM BE SCREENED?

There will be the screening in Melbourne as part of the prestigious ten day Horrorothon, MONSTERFEST and/or the OFFICIAL Trasharama ‘on the road Australian tour. To be announced but there will be approximately ten different destinations both capitals and regionals. Please email us if you want Trasharama to come to your town. We’ll see what we can do.  Trasharama attempts to screen as many films as possible at as many different destinations as possible

HOW MUCH TO SUBMIT A FILM? 

There will be a 25 dollar charge to submit your film in consideration of BOTH the MONSTERFEST screening and then OFFICIAL TRASHARAMA AUSTRALIAN TOUR. It is only 15 dollars for consideration to the TOUR.  Email us if this is still confusing. 

CAN I ENTER MORE THAN ONE FILM?

Filmmakers can enter as many films as they like providing each film has the correct entry form.  Only one film per film maker will be screened.

WHAT IF I MISS THE DEADLINE?

Any film postmarked after Sunday 31^st August, 2014 will not be considered for the MONSTERFEST program to be held in Melbourne sometime TBA November 20^th and 30^th 2014^th.  Film entries postmarked after Saturday 14^th   September 2014 will not be considered for the 2014 competition, but will be eligible for the following years competition.

HOW LONG CAN MY FILM BE?

We will accept any film under 15 minutes (including titles and credits), however we prefer films between 0 – 7 minutes. No one wants to sit through a brain numbing 20 minute docu-drama when they can see 3 or 4 better films. KEEP IT SHORT!!

CAN I HAVE A SUSAN BOYLE SOUNDTRACK?

Trasharama will not accept films with copyright breaches. You’re much better off to get your geeky mate from down the street to bang out a few numbers on his keyboard or trumpet. There are several websites with ‘copyright free’ music and sound effects so get on the net and start googling!!

WHAT RATING DOES MY FILM HAVE TO BE?

I WANNA MAKE A FILM BUT I DON’T HAVE ANY EQUIPMENT!

Beg, borrow or steal!! or visit media resource centres such as FTI or OPENchannel (click here) They will hire relatively cheap equipment or point you in the right direction. You’ve probably also got a dodgy Uncle Bob who has an ole’ video 8 camera lying around his shed somewhere. START NETWORKING!!

WHAT CAN I WIN?

There are several prizes to be won and they get bigger and better each year. Checkout the prize page (coming soon)  to see what’s up for grabs. We encourage people to make films for the FestEVIL and if you do that is taken into consideration.

CAN I STILL ENTER OTHER FILM FESTIVALS?

Of course you can !! When you sign the Trasharama entry form you give us non-exlusive rights which means you allow us to screen your film (including reproducing stills, excerpts etc), but you retain the ownership. Some other film festivals ask for exclusive rights which basically says they own your film and you can’t screen it any where else.

OVERSEAS FILMS?

We will be accepting international entries in 2014 to be screened at a special international program providing we receive enough films. Unfortunately non-Australian films won’t be eligible for prizes in the competition. There is no entry fee for non-Australian films. Films to be ‘all region’ NTSC or PAL DVD only and please make sure non-English language films have subtitles. We are unable to return films back to you so please don’t send your original master copy. Entries must be postmarked and sent by the deadline of Sept 14th 2014 ( late entries not accepted for international films).

WHO JUDGES MY FILM?

Trasharama have a panel of  judges . They include a wide range of war criminals, perverts, street trash, horror fans, someone that looks like SPIELBERG and other miscellaneous deviates.

WHERE CAN I SEE THIS TRASHARAMA?

See the venues (coming soon)  page of touring destinations in 2014. We will be screening the short film program as part of Monsterferst and there will be other screenings. We will announce them as they become available.
